Then we realized that he always, always has much more restful, content naps when sleeping at my mom's house. So what's the difference? The only thing we could think of was that they don't have a cat. So Gavin's grandpa took Cali to his farm for a test run to see if it would help. Well, with one thorough vaccuming of the house, changing the furnace filter, and washing all our blankets - Gavin immediately started sleeping better at night and for all of his naps.
So now it's time to ask around and find a new home for our sweet little kitty. She is four years old, has been fixed and de-clawed on her two front paws. She is very lazy and usually just lies around all day but always, always in the same room as you are. So in that respect, she's a very social cat. She doesn't usually meow - only if we've neglected to change her litter or she needs food/water. She's very good with our kids. Never doing anything aggressive to them (of course, if she's provoked as some little kids are capable of doing, she will bat at you but with no front claws, there is no harm done)
Even though she's de-clawed, we have let her outside but only if we're out there too, gardening or playing on the swings or something. She's never run away when outside, just hangs around near us or else laying around in the dirt or crouching in the grass. When we do go outside and leave her in, she's always in the window sill watching us the entire time. Again, showing her social side.
All in all, she's a great cat and we don't want to get rid of her but we know we have to for sweet baby Gavin's health (and our sleep).
If you know of anyone who is willing to take our cat and give her lots of love - please send me an email at: rachel_wahl@hotmail.com
