Hello all,
No pics this time. Have been too busy and without internet at G & G's so I'm at Ryan's cousins' house right now.
So far our trip has been excellent. We made it to Kansas City the first night, Tucumcari the second, The Grand Canyon on the third, Vegas for the fourth and fifth night and to Grandma and Grandpa's on Feb 7th. The Grand Canyon was breath taking and totally overwhelming. Ryan doesn't like height so it wasn't too exciting for him but I loved it. On the way to Vegas we stopped at the Hoover Dam and took the tour down into the power stations and control areas. That was also very cool and completely awe-inspiring. What a huge engineering feat - that huge mass of concrete has only sunk 1/4 of an inch since 1935. Wow!
Vegas was exactly the spectacle I was expecting except much, much larger. I mean literally ! The hotels are so huge and sprawling that it takes 10 to 15 minutes to get from your room to the main lobby. I really enjoyed watching the Bellagio fountain shows and I took a trip up the 1/2 scale Eiffel tour at the Paris Hotel. The view of the strip was amazing.
Then onto G & G's. We've have a nice relaxing time. Went shopping at the Outlets yesterday and to this great Mexican restaurant for supper. Ryan had the "super burrito" The waiter says, "I hope you're hungry" as he walks away...he wasn't kidding . This thing was like 1 1/2 lbs of meat rolled in like 3 or 4 tortillas to keep it all in. Needless to say, Ryan only ate half but the food was amazing.
Today we're still relaxing. Tomorrow is Grandma's 80th birthday party at Michelle and Joe's place. Some time we'll be heading down to San Diego to see the zoo. Dayna has loved all the birds that fly around and land on the feeders and G & G's house so she should love to animals.
Better get going. Probably no pix til we get home. Love you all and see you soon.
Oh yeah - Congratulations to my big brother Tim! He and Yu Dzai (Winnie) are getting married this summer in the Altona area! I'm so excited for them.
love Rachel, Ryan and Dayna
