Washington, DC Nov 13-18, 2010

On Nov 13, 2010, we travelled to Washington, DC for a business/pleasure trip due to meetings Ryan was attending. These pics are in a mixed up order thanks to a glich in downloading them but I guess that only matters to me. So anyway, enjoy:

View from our hotel, the J.W. Marriot on Pennsylvania Ave, a couple blocks from the White House.

Foliage at Mount Vernon, George Washington's estate.

Duh
WW II Memorial
Museum of Natural History

Walking from Union Station towards the Capitol
Lincoln Memorial
Reflecting Pool and the Washington Monument
From atop the steps of the Lincoln Memorial
National Botanical Gardens
Washington Redskins vs. Philedelphia Eagles game (we got rained out of our seats into the concourse and the Redskins got whooped, then we waited, like 2 hours for our bus to pick us up. NOT really the best night)
At the Canadian Embassy, the only embassy between Capitol Hill and the White House.
Rotunda inside the Capitol
Amazing frescos in the Library of Congress (btw, the most beautiful building ever)
Washington's house, overlooking the Potomac River
Lincoln, who, by the way, is HUGE up close
Marine Corps memorial, aka Iwo Jima.
The tomb of the Unknown Soldier from WW I. Note the three other unknowns in the foreground, from WW II, Korea and Vietnam. The Vietnam soldier was later identified by DNA.
Arlington National Cemetary - the most moving place on earth. 640 ACRES (one square mile) of graves, upon graves, upon graves of brothers, sisters, sons, grandsons, husbands, wives. A must see if you ever visit Washington.
